The economy and global markets experienced a positive year in 2021, resulting in increasing net worth for many investors, according to Spectrem Group’s Market Insights Report 2022. The number of U.S. households with a net worth between $1 million and $5 million, not including the value of the primary residence (NIPR), increased 8.1 percent from 11.6 million at year-end 2020 to 12.55 million by year-end 2021, an increase of 950,000 Millionaire households.

Billions of dollars in anticipated tax hikes on personal income and estates proposed by the Biden Administration, along with rising income and property taxes in some states, are causing consternation among some of America’s wealthiest investors, according to Spectrem’s $25 Million Plus Investor Report.  More than half of those surveyed indicate they are considering moving their residence to states with low-or-no income taxes.

The number of wealthy American households reached a new record high in 2020 according to Spectrem Group’s newly released Market Insights Report 2021. The study reveals that U.S. Millionaire investors - households with $1 million to $5 million in net worth, not including the value of their primary residence (NIPR) – increased by 600,000 to 11.6 million in 2020, a 5.5 percent increase over the previous year.
