June 4, 2015 Fact of the Day: What type of hedge funds do wealthy investors own?
In research recently completed by Spectrem Group, it was found that many of the investors with more than $5 million of assets owned multiple types of hedge funds. The most common type of hedge fund to be owned by the ultra-wealthy was a long-short hedge fund at 39 percent. Twenty eight percent of investors own market-neutral hedge funds. Another 22 percent own liquid hedge funds and 19 percent own event-driven hedge funds.
About 31 percent don’t know what type of hedge funds they own.
